If I weren't human, tall and proud, here's what I'd rather be.
A tiny little ball of fur, a kitten by a tree.
I'd wobble on my frail legs and jump at every sound,
then pounce on leaves and snowflakes that did fall upon the ground.
Or maybe I'd be full of teeth, a lurking tiger shark.
I'd hunt all day in search of food, just swimming in the dark.
My fin of darkest midnight blue I'd crest above the wave,
where no one would be brave enough to tell me to behave.
But then again I'd love to glide on thermals in the sky,
and swoop with lazy effortless, an eagle upon high.
With talons sharp and keen of eye I'd spot my latest prey,
then eat enough to satisfy my hunger for the day.
